Mission of the Vilnius GreenTech Forum

A decisive green transformation of the economy and business is the only path to a secure future for Lithuania, taking into account not only global processes that highlight the importance of green progress, renewable energy and pollution reduction, but also the threat that slow progress is tantamount to a continuing oil age, higher fossil fuel prices and the ability of Vladimir Putin’s empire to finance new wars.

In addition, slower green progress is also the cause of greater economic threats, especially in view of China’s efforts to dominate the era of the green economy. Thus, slower green progress may cause greater economic and geopolitical problems for democracies, and the risk of war for countries bordering Russia and China. Thus, states bordering the most powerful dictatorships should be most concerned about the fastest possible green progress, but, unfortunately, this is very often not the case, because both the destructive and corruptive influence of external forces and the desire to develop the economy for the benefit of dominant capital groups encourage the elite of the states bordering them to increase, rather than reduce, existential threats to the security of their states and people.

It is precisely such a realistic perception of ongoing global processes and threats that encourages us to continue the mission of the Vilnius GreenTech forum to unite the democratic business, political and scientific elite of Lithuania and the EU to achieve the fastest possible green progress. Although we realize that the forces interested in opposing the realization of our mission are much more united and often extremely aggressive, we feel a duty to try to unite citizens to create a secure future.

We have no doubt that from the announced topics of the forum, it is clear that the path of progress we are emphasizing is the safest for both the democracies bordering Russia and China, and for all of humanity. We sincerely hope that our targeted efforts to talk about the most important changes as widely as possible will be beneficial, that the power of green democratic progress will grow, as will the possibility of a long-term peace and a future of prosperous democracies.

KEY THEMES FOR 2026

Strategic themes of “Lithuanian Davos 2026” that should attract business leaders committed to sustainable business development:

– Forecasted development of the Lithuanian economy in 2026 and the decisions that must be taken to ensure long-term growth of Lithuania’s economic and industrial potential;

– The impact of deep tech on business and the state: how the development of artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous transport will transform business, industry, and the economy; what future we must prepare for and how Lithuania can take a leading position in it;

– Accessibility of financing for industry, business, and startups: current financing opportunities and those likely to emerge in the near future;

– Development of renewable energy in 2026: trends, risks, opportunities, and a discussion on Lithuania’s long-term energy strategy – how energy can become a source of competitiveness for Lithuanian industry and the national economy;

– Real estate market trends (regional and national): expected development in 2026 and 2027; risks of overheating and bubble formation; long-term development potential of Lithuania’s real estate market and the factors that may strengthen it;

– Development potential of Lithuania’s transport and mobility sector: which areas of infrastructure require expansion and which require modernization in order to ensure regional competitiveness and maximum economic benefit for the state;

– Sessions dedicated to increasing the economic potential of AI in Lithuania and the development of the financial technology sector; as well as sessions focused on the global startup and unicorn market, and an assessment of the attractiveness of Lithuania’s ecosystem for startup creation and growth.

Strategic themes of “Lithuanian Davos 2026” for business leaders concerned with the secure future of the Lithuanian state:

– Strengthening Lithuania’s economic, defence, and societal unity potential: key breakthrough directions that must be implemented to ensure Lithuania enters the next decade as a strong and resilient state, resistant to external threats;

– Discussion of the comprehensive (total) defence model. The objective is to encourage consensus between business and political leadership on concrete goals that would ensure the meaningful involvement of a large part of Lithuanian society in national defence mechanisms, thereby increasing Lithuania’s defence and deterrence capacity;

– Lithuania’s future attractiveness for youth, professionals, and talent to study, work, and build families – the foundation of future business, industrial, and economic growth: what can help Lithuania become a technologically advanced state, driven by talent, business potential, and citizen well-being;

– A special session on the integration of Vilnius and Kaunas through a green economic growth corridor, aimed at promoting the harmonious development and integration of the two largest cities, which would further increase the growth potential of regions generating over 60% of Lithuania’s GDP, create additional prosperity for the people of Vilnius, Kaunas, and the entire country, and strengthen business growth opportunities;

– A special session on economic literacy and public education, aimed at encouraging Lithuania’s business, academic, and societal leaders to take responsibility for strengthening the economic awareness of society. If Lithuania seeks to take another strong step in reinforcing its economy and security, it must strive to become more like Switzerland – a society that deeply understands the value of knowledge and economic processes.
